All Stars Weekly Wrap-upAllstars

Wednesday 28th and Friday 30th January 2015

Thanks to our wonderful All Stars sponsors - Crackerjack Chicken!U10 Rainbows

U10 Rainbows kicked off the second half of the season with a bang! After only one training session before the first game, the girls really tried their best to keep the defence on their side of the field. They did an excellent job running onto the ball and spreading out across the field in defence as well as in attack, giving the opposition a run for their money. Congratulations to Molly for being the first try scorer of the second half of the season!

Let’s keep it up Rainbows!!

U10 Sharks

The team had a great game scoring 8 tries.  The boys are improving every week and played well after the holiday break.  As usual Tom, Ollie and Matt led the way with some great try scoring and Ben worked hard in defence.  Thanks to our fellow All Stars U10’s who lent us a few players.

U12 Angels

The All Star Angels began the season well.  We had a very good first training session back from the break  followed by a game where the girls really tried to implement their skills.  The girls have worked on fast rucking and moving the ball wide and both aspects of their game have improved considerably since the beginning of the season.  Defensively, they have been fantastic.  They put pressure on the opposition well.  Some unlucky touches in Friday nights game made the difference between a win and a draw.  The girls work really hard for each other and the area we are working on the most is to talk more to each other on the field to make their playing easier.  They have been asked to “get loud” although I am sure some parents may be surprised with that request.

New player Demi added some attack teaming up well with Georgia, Mia and Lucy.  Josie, Savannah and  Issy continued to defend consistently and with purpose.  Hannah continues to help her team mates out with good talk on the field and has her wing position down pat.  Our little dynamos Taleah and Ashleigh grow in confidence each week and are really trying to do their job well.  Lane continues to show how quick she is on the wing, narrowly missing out on scoring a number of times on Friday night.  It is pleasing to see many of these girls advancing their skills from the smaller Under 10 field to the differing skills involved in full size fields.  The girls are working well and it should be a great second half of the season.

U12 Sharks

This week the boys played impressively for a 10-2 win against Roosters.  The boys showed amazing defensive and attacking teamwork throughout the entire game.  The highlight was one try where all players touched the ball on the way to putting Jackson over in the corner.  Our links are starting to hit holes created by the good work of our middles.  Well done team.

U14 Stingers

All StarsStingers had an awesome game against top of the table Highfields on Friday night, going into half time at 1all. Their defence was outstanding throughout the game, the slide is starting to become second nature with Doug making some great decisions on the wing. Toward the end of the game the Christmas break started to show, and the boys struggled to contain their opposition as they did in the first half. Sam and Matt continued to show excellent leadership for the boys in both attack and defence, talking heaps and directing play when on the field. We always looked dangerous in attack thanks to some awesome rucking from James and James, Nick, John and Tyson. We welcomed Braith to the team this week – and he had a fantastic first game with us!

U14 SharksAll Stars

The boys started off slowly after the holiday break.  In the first half they bombed a few tries and defended poorly allowing four tries in.  However, the second half comeback was impressive as the team won the half and went down narrowly in the game by 6-4.  The team continues to steadily improve and our rugby players are starting to learn the finer points of touch.  Well done to Finn and Lachie (Mohr) who had strong performances.

U16 Girls All Stars

All Stars 16 girls have continued on their winning streak securing another win on Wednesday night.  They have started the second half of the season well.  Some skills were a little rusty after the break but by the end of the second half some of their good combinations started to work well again.  This team has now only lost one game so far this season and are really gelling as a team.Enwise Electrical and Refigeration

Some excellent rucking from Georgia, Kiara, Gabby and Jaimee through the middle set up for some successful capitalising outside.  Steph had her first game back for the season after injury and scored three tries on the wing, finishing off well.  Tia and Teah continue to draw the defence in before some smart ball work.  Sami continues to improve, gaining more confidence week after week.  Monica showed us again just how explosive she can be off the mark, making her hard to catch.  Hunter rounds the team off with her continual talk on the field, helping out her team mates.  These girls encourage each other and work hard as a team.  They are looking good heading into the back end of the season.
