All Stars Weekly Wrap-upAllstars

All Stars Weekly Wrap-up: Friday 30 October 2015

U8 Goldfish

All Stars Goldfish are a small team of six with a lot of spirit. Each week we try our best even though we are All Starsfatigued due to us having only 1 reserve when we are a full team. We have four players from last year who are helping the new players learn the basics of touch. We are continuing to improve week by week and are concentrating on rucking and playing as a team.

This week we played against TACAPS. The Goldfish played their hearts out for the whole game. At times, we were down a player as we had players needing to have a break as we had no reserves. In the spirit of touch, the other team lent us a couple of players when this occurred.

I was impressed with how we played with Gemma getting in at dummy half and quickly passing

the ball to Emma, Abigail, Adeline and Willow who ran hard and made plenty of metres. The game was played in a friendly atmosphere and the All Stars Goldfish players gave it their all in defence and attack and scored some brilliant tries. It’s looking like an exciting season ahead for All Stars Goldfish.

U10 Frisbees

The Frisbees are a young team with a lot of new players who haven’t played before or have moved up from under 8’s. That said, they are coming together very nicely and proving to be a very competitive team. We have been working on getting back onside in defence and our rucking.

This week we played Saints Pink. We started very well with a couple of good team tries but a couple of lapses in concentration allowed Saints to get back into the game. In the second half we took our play up a notch. Kira got in at dummy half and directed the play and then we had some good rucking by Beth, Olivia, Zahli, Lucia and Ella allowing Leah and Paige to score out wide.

The whole team then stepped up with some great defence shown whilst Saints were camped on our line. Even though Saints eventually scored, the Frisbees must be complemented on their honesty regarding touches (even the Saints coach complimented our team), so well done girls!

We are improving game by game and the girls are enjoying their touch! Well done to the Frisbees for a very enjoyable game played in good spirit.

U10 Swordfish

Enwise Electrical and RefigerationThe U10 Swordfish are improving as a team every week. Friday night’s game saw some excellent rucking and a big improvement in passing and catching with lots less dropped ball. There was also a great defensive effort by all of the boys in the game. Tries to Tom F, Bailey, Tyler, Eli, Tom S and a length of the field Intercept try to Tyler. Well done boys!

U10 Makos

This week we played a team that was full of boys a year older than us. But despite that we played a great game against some more experienced players! Our rucking is improving each game and we are getting the hang of getting our hand out when playing the ball! Our drawing and passing was fantastic this game and helped us go over for our two tries! These boys make me so proud each week with their never-say-die attitude in defence and their willingness to learn! We certainly walked away from this game with our heads held high and a desire to be better next time! Great game boys, keep working hard and being hungry to improve!

U10 Great Whites

newsXpress on westWe have just completed our forth game and all members have played well as a team, week after week. The boys have not played prior to this season, but we are running straighter, following the coach’s on field requests and generally having fun as a new group boys/coach.

Our younger members to the game – Daniel, James, Jaiden and Zac have improved their knowledge, skills and general field positions over this time – well done boys. Leigh, Matthew, Reilly and Nicolas have stepped up in their game to game experiences and in doing so have brought the others’ with them – keep up the great work boys.

The boys have a great attitude of themselves in general, the team, training and on game day. I suspect parents are reminder quite offer training is on Thursdays, for this we thank you all –  high fives all round! Our team culture was set early in the season and “Great Whites” have been living up to the expectation in supporting each other and taking on board new skills and drills.

When the ball is dropped – it’s okay, a good attitude is very evident amongst the boys – pick it up and keep running! All boys have a desire to learn and become better players. As a coach it’s an honour to teach and assist them.

After forth game, the boys were humble with the outcome. But! were very aware of what they want to work on as a team at training – stopping tries against them. Heads up boys, this is workable.

As a team we know the stats to date, but the most rewarding outcome is the individual/team attitude – this is what is valued more than the results of the game.

Well Done “Great Whites”

 U12 Malibus

Even though this is their first season of touch the girls team work is incredible.  Their support play and willingness to chase are key factors on why they are going so well.

Ale2015 u12 Malibusxis, Kasey and Natalie always hold their position and notice if the wings have been drawn in and will move out to cover. Their passing between link to wing has set up many tries. Macey is a great wing and always stays out and with her speed makes it hard to stop her.  You quickly loose count of the amount of players Ashlee, Charlotte and Isabelle step in a game. Add pace to the mixture and they are hard to catch. Naomi is often dummy half and is always there for a quick play. If she makes a break she can keep her speed from over half way. Mia and Taya are very quick off the mark to make a touch, putting pressure on the other team and can often result in hand overs.  Leah is our youngest player but what a defender.  She marks her player and doesn’t let up until she makes the touch.  Everyone of the girls has so much talent and together, compliment each other making them an amazing team.  But most importantly, they are having so much fun.  Great work girls!

U12 Sharks

AllStars 2013The U12 Sharks boys team had another amazing game this week running in 15 tries.  Tyson was captain this week and led the team strongly in attack and defence while Nathan had his best game of the season.  Sam had a good game in the middle and Dougal was solid on return from injury.  The team is really playing entertaining touch, the boys have the ability to ruck when required and spread the ball when they spot opportunities.  They are playing for each other and it is pleasing to see tries scored on the back of multiple passes.  Keep up the good work boys.

U12 Angels

The U12 Angels girls played a derby game against the All Stars Surfers this week.  The younger Surfers team showed that they are one of the best teams in the grade with plenty Crackerjack Chickenof speed out wide.  The Angels were very impressive this week and defended really well as a team following on from lessons learnt at training.  Isabelle and Demi continually put pressure on the Surfers in defence while Courtney and Savannah showed improving ball skills to go with their pace.  Elspeth had her best game of the season so far with some great runs and saves in defence.  Great effort from both the Angels and the Surfers, with this form hopefully we will see both teams in the semis this year.

U12 Vipers

All StarsWe are progressing well each week, the boys are working on their rucking and other skills, we are also playing well as a team.We played with 7 players in Friday nights game against coct – what a fantastic effort boys, everyone played well! Matt and i are very proud of you all.
