All Stars Weekly Wrap-up

Friday 21 and 28 February 2014

U12 Triggers (21 Feb)

Starting the warm up with only 5 players and wondering if we were going to have a full team really had our minds frazzled. Thankfully more players started to arrive. The match started off with an early try scored from their opposition, but to the 12 year old girls’ credit, they fought back hard! A free flowing end to end battle was a great spectacle for the parents and spectators alike.

Special mention to India, Keeley, Hayley & Erin for their impressive, attacking powers making amazing ground and finding the tiniest gaps. Hitting holes wasn’t a problem for Keeley, Hayley & Brydie who each found the try line. Also cannot forget the Triggers strong defensive outfit which was led by Gabby, Ellen, Piper & Brydie who kept the pressure on and managed to keep their opposition to only 3 tries. An excellent team effort made for a great game to watch. Well done girls.

One very proud coach – Jade

U10 Gems (21 Feb)

Thanks to our wonderful All Stars sponsors - Crackerjack Chicken!U10 Gems have consistently played to the best of their ability in 2013/14. This is the first time that the girls have played competition touch football. The skills of running hard and passing the ball is equal to any team in their division. Over the past few weeks we have concentrated more on defence and this is developing. Their never give up attitude is always present if an opposition player makes a break the girls do not give up when chasing. At the end of each game the girls support each other by throwing the ball in the air and yelling “All Stars” at the top of their lungs – the team spirit is amazing. They also love the lollies that their coach brings to each game. I am really happy to see how much the GEM girls have developed, am proud of their team spirit and how they support and encourage each other.

U10 Sharks (28 Feb)

The boys played another fantastic game against Highfields displaying their high level of skill and teamwork.  This was evident when the team combined to put Adam in for a try after he mentioned he hadn’t scored many this year.  Well done to everyone for playing so well as a team.  Almost every try came on the back of 2-3 passes.  Congratulations to Dougal, Luke, Riley and Joe for their selection in the Twisters.

U12 Sharks (28 Feb)

This team of 11 has 6 under 10 players but you wouldn’t have known this from their performance this week.  Despite going down against Highfields, the boys rose to a new level and constantly threatened the defence whenever we had the ball in attack.  The step up to Div 1 has seen a massive improvement in the team by everyone.  Well done boys.  Special mention to Kai, Luke and Riley for their work in the middle.  Joe Currie also had an amazing game despite suffering from asthma.

U14 Sharks (28 Feb)

The boys started this game with a decimated team due to illness and injury but the performance they produced was one of the best efforts this season.  Brad had his best game of the season in the middle while Jasper rose to the occasion in a great display of touch.  Special mention goes to our two under 10’s that filled in for the team (Dougal and Adam).  The boys played really well and did not look out of place.  Thanks to Mark also for his ongoing assistance with the team.
