U8 Swordfish
On Friday the 14th of February the boys played against another All Stars team in the Piranhas which turned out to be a great contest with plenty of tries and great defence. The boys have been working very hard on the defence with trying to get 2 defenders on one side of me and 3 on the other and they are now looking and making sure this happens without being told with Oscar, Ryan and Matty running sometimes 10 metres to make this happen. They have been chasing hard in defence and diving to make a touch when required. In attack the boys are starting to run straight instead of trying to run around the opposition with Billy, Bailey and Tommy making some metres up the middle and sometimes getting all the way through the defence. In the last few weeks the boys have also been working on running and looking for a 2nd or 3rd pass which is coming along well. Overall the skill level from these boys who have never played footy before except in the back yard is quite impressive for 6 and 7 year olds.
